Terra Moraira, Benitachell, Costa Blanca

This house was built during 2002 through 2004. We came to North Costa Blanca looking for a holiday home after starting our investigations in South Costa Blanca, Torrivieja in fact, but we were not taken by the area at all and found the North Costa Blanca countryside to be far more pleasant and more to our liking.

I'd arranged to meet a chap who was selling off-plan property primarily, but he showed us one completed villa which was very nice but not quite to our liking and a little out of price range. We were then shown an olive grove which was to become a housing plot in Jalon Valley, but we didn't have the same imagination as him and turned our attentions elsewhere. Also, they were to take 18 months to build and we were after something ready sooner (little did we know of the Spanish property system!)

When eating breakfast at The Wessex Bar (The International Shopping Centre - a rather grand name for a small brace of shops off of the Caraterra Teulada - Moraira) we met a chap who worked for Ocean Estates. He told us of an urbanisation just up the road called Terra Moraira. This urbanisation is in fact in Benitachell the neighboring town to Moraira -and on the back of the mountain of Cumbre Del Sol which has many properties with lovely views over the Med.

Unfortunately ours does not have a sea view, but it does have a stunning view over the valley, which always takes my breath away. We first saw our house when the basic structure was complete and we were able to look around inside.

Our house is part of phase 1. Phase 2 is building up the mountain and will have spectacular views, but not so much sun, but during the summer it could be an advantage as it's get very hot. I can't wait to laze on the sun terraces (there are 2!) and have a nice long drink.. Adios amigos.
